RE-OPENING GUIDELINES

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic RISE will adhere to all the guidelines put in place by the government of Alberta.

 

This document has been developed to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 among attendees (including participants, staff, volunteers, participants and the general public). The guidance outlines public health and infection prevention and control measures specific to (a) sport, physical activity and recreation and (b) the operation of indoor facilities.  

 

COVID-19 droplet transmission is much more likely when individuals are in close contact. Further, the likelihood of transmission between individuals participating in sport, physical activity and recreation in an indoor setting is significantly higher. While transmission is less likely in an outdoor setting, where air flow is greater and there is more space for individuals to keep physically distanced, transmission can occur if public health guidance is not followed.

 

 COVID-19 can also be transmitted if someone touches a contaminated surface and then touches their face without washing their hands. Many activities involve shared equipment among participants, coaches/staff, instructors, officials or volunteers (for example, shared baseballs, basketballs, volleyballs). The virus does not enter the body through skin; it enters through the eyes, nose or mouth when an individual touches their face. This is why regular hand hygiene and cleaning of high-touch surfaces are so important.

Upon Arrival/Prior to Class & Open Gym

 

  • You must reserve your spot in each class (open gym included) on Wodify and sign in upon arrival!

  • Every person that enters RISE must review the AHS screening questions located on the front door.

  • Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available at the entrance, as well as, throughout the gym but we also encourage you bring your own

  • We have limited amounts of face masks available by request (Masks are not recommended to be worn while working out).

  • We kindly ask that you sanitize frequently, as well as, upon arrival and before leaving.

  • Members lounge is closed (temporary).

  • Infrared sauna is closed (temporary).

  • Change rooms will be closed (temporary). Accessible bathroom located by the artificial ice will be open (one occupant at a time).

  • We recommend coming to the gym in your workout gear!


Class & Open Gym Guidelines: 

 

  • Keep in mind you have been out of the gym for 3 months. Programming will reflect that. Please ease yourself back in and let our coaches know what you have/have not been doing at home so we can help make this transition smoothly.

  • Classes will be 45 minutes.

  • Each member will have a dedicated box taped on the floor with the necessary equipment for the day’s workout provided. Each box will be spaced 2 + meters from any neighbouring box.

  • To the extent possible, participants should refrain from touching their eyes, nose, mouth and face during activity.

  • Water bottles must not be shared.

  • To promote physical distancing of 2 meters, we will be using an “air smack and bump” handshake technique. (“I owe you” high fives will also be accepted).

  • Chalk will be unavailable, we suggest you bring your own.

  • Distancing exceptions can be made for those who are from the same household.


Post Class/Exit:

 

  • As much as we all miss each other, we kindly ask that you leave immediately after class is complete to allow coaches time to clean equipment and prepare for the next class.

  • Once you are done the workout and have cooled down we ask that you exit the facility while maintain adequate social distancing.

  • Open gym athletes must thoroughly sanitize each piece of equipment they used. 

  • The coach on the floor is responsible for cleaning your equipment and space. Please do not attempt clean/help the coach.

  • The Wodify Kiosk at the center of the gym will be temporarily unavailable for member use. Please use your smartphone to register and sign into class and record daily scores.

  • Please respect these guidelines and each member’s individual space.


Rapid Response to Symptomatic Individuals: 

  • In the case of where an attendee shows symptoms of COVID-19, the individual will be required to immediately isolate from others.  This includes arranging safe travel home (e.g., no public transit).

  • Staff will then determine if the class should be cancelled and or the building shut down until cleaning and disinfecting of all equipment and surfaces that may have come into contact with the symptomatic participant can be completed.

Meet your dedicated RISE Remote coach and go through a combined goals and movement assessment to enable your coach to place you in the right stream for your needs.

ACQUIRE YOUR EQUIPMENT (OPTIONAL)

To maximize the impact of the RISE Remote program at home, there is some specific equipment that we recommend members have. Pick up the equipment individually or purchase it as a bundle and finance it over the first 3 months of the program.

STEP 5

BEGIN YOUR SPECIFICALLY-TAILORED PROGRAM

Your coach will place you into one or multiple RISE Remote Training streams and set a standard of weight for our at-home workouts based on the movement and goals assessment.
